KOVYOW
In this personal project, my goal was to explore a place that hasn’t been photographed or documented in this way before. St Merryn holds deep personal significance for me. It’s where I grew up, where my memories are tied to familiar streets, local characters, and a strong sense of community. Every corner of this village carries echoes of my past, and through this project, I wanted to reconnect with those moments while capturing the essence of the place as it exists today.
Over two weeks, I shot with my medium format film camera, allowing myself to slow down and be fully present in each frame. Shooting on Kodak Portra 400 film gave me the space to be intentional, and to truly see St Merryn beyond nostalgia, its raw beauty, its quiet details, and the people who continue to shape its story.
This project isn’t just about documenting a place; it’s about preserving a feeling.
It’s about the connection between past and present, between memory and reality. By focusing on the real, lived experiences of the people and spaces that define St Merryn for me, I’ve created an honest and intimate portrait of the place I call home.
